Ok so I'm not sure if it's because of being so busy or time flew so fast, but it has been a lot longer then we thought since our last blog. So I guess lets do a recap of this year or summer?? As always with every year we participated in operation backpack to give free haircuts to children who may need them. School age kids were able to receive free backpacks filled with school supplies, a physical and a haircut to start the New Year with style @ Operation backpack held by Lee’s Daycare of High Springs. We were proud to offer free haircuts for the High Springs Operations Backpack.

Our salon will be closed September 11,12,and 13th in remembrance of those lives who were forever changed by 9/11, also in memory of Debbie's husband whom we lost last year on 9/11, he will always be in our hearts and please continue to keep Debbie and her children in your prayers. Kelly and Crystal are planning a wonderful trip to Jacksonville Tattoo convention/seminar during that weekend and hope to bring back even more ideas for your body art and permanent makeup needs.

Creations welcomed a new Hair stylist to our salon Delcie Riggins formerly from Hair and Nail Depot. She is blessed with 2 sons, one of who blessed her with a granddaughter, a daughter who has also given her a beautiful granddaughter. Delcie is married to a great guy for the last 4 years. Delcie has been a hairdresser since 1986, through which she developed her skill, then bringing it here to High Springs about 2003. We invited all of Delcie’s clients to join her in her new location with us and welcome all new customers to give her a try. All of us here have a great time and would like everyone to join us for his or her next Hair, Nail, Tanning, Waxing, or Tattoo service. It is a great pleasure to service our High Springs community in so many ways.
Fantastic Fridays All Around Town
We have been participating in Fantastic Fridays which is the first Friday of every month here in High Springs, come out and enjoy many games, prizes, music and fun for the whole family. A chance to win $100 dollars as well as other prizes from the town. This past Fantastic Friday we were giving away free single tans. I hope you were here!

The October Fantastic Friday - will offer a new dimension in High Springs culture. Called "Art Around Town," the event on Oct. 2 will feature local artists at some of the downtown businesses that stay open late.
"Artists will be pairing up with businesses," said Ashley McDonough, Main Street Manager. "They will
be inside or outside the downtown shops. We're also asking the~ shops to offer refreshments. "
"We're hoping some of the artists will actually be working so people can see them create," said Sandi Richmond, who represents City Hall. Richmond said the new showing of works for Art in City Hall will also happen that Friday night. "We're having our opening reception then," she said. "The show will be on display until Dec. 2, ending in time· for Christmas gift giving if people want to purchase any of the artwork." Richmond called the Oct. 2 events a "win-win" situation for artists and the city. The reception night for the current showing of works at city hall brought a crowd of more than-50 people. The two art events combine as a smaller version of art walks that have .become popular in bigger cities. "Our art walk will be like Gainesville's," McDonough said, "But it will attract different people."
Artists are urged to contact downtown businesses to see who might be responsive to the idea. Some pairings have already been set up. Diana Fava, who has a teaching art gallery on First Avenue, will be showing her artwork at Regina's Fine Jewelry, also on First Avenue. "We'll have a double-tiered cake with these sugar flowers on it that I make, and tea to go with it," Fava said. She has some contacts with the art community. "I'm trying to find local artists to take part that night," she said. Meetings in September will help too. That same Friday. night is the opening of a new play 'at the; High Springs Community Theater. The comedy, "Squabbles" will begin . its month-long run at 8 p.m. And if that isn't enough art, North· Florida's oldest movie theater is still showing flicks at 8 p.m. Add to that free live music or karaoke at area bars and restaurants. People are finding they can get a surprising amount _ of "culture" in the small town of High Springs.
